Producer, Director, Cinematographer KIMMO KOSKELA


Kimmo Koskela is an award-winning Finnish director, cinematographer and producer working in experimental short films, feature films, dance films, documentaries, photography and various art projects since the early eighties.

He has worked together with many celebrated Finnish artists such as a photographer Arno Rafael Minkkinen, mucisian Kimmo Pohjonen, dancer Reijo Kela, visual artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila etc.

Some highlights from Kimmo´s works:

In 1983, Koskela was awarded the Finnish State Prize for Photography.

Mein Kampf in Media as well as Pink Noise 1992 was awarded the Grand Prix at the Lahti AV-biennial in Finland.

Orgastic Orange was awarded the Special Prize at the Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage in Germany in 1995 as well as the Prix de Cinema de Demain at the 5th Mondial de la Video in Brussels that same year.

Still Not There represented the Finnish National Broadcasting Company at the Emmy Awards 1996

Blind Moment took the honors at the Golden Prague 2005 competition.

Soundbreaker won the prize for "The best creative film" in FIFA-Films for Art in Canada in 2012 and it was also nominated for

Jussi-Award (Finnish Oscar) for the best documentary in 2013. Soundbreaker has been invited to more than 50 International Film Festivals and was distributed in cinemas in Germany in 50 Cities.

Le Café de Mes Souvenirs directed by Valto Baltzar, Kimmo as a Cinematographer and the Editor and the Second Producer of the film, was awarded for The Best Feature Film in The Praque International Film Festival in 2022.
